The IMSA Weathertech Championship is in Sebring, Florida this weekend for the Twelve Hours of Sebring event. On Friday, Pipo Derani emerged fastest from a Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class qualifying session for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship that was disrupted and red-flagged by a crash involving the No. 6 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963 driven by Mathieu Jaminet. That left the remaining competitors barely three minutes to post a final flying lap. The crash required Derani to get his No. 31 Whelen Cadillac Racing Cadillac V-Series.R back up to speed quickly to finish his lap with the fastest time, and he did just that.

The 12-hour race is the second longest behind the 24-hour run of Daytona and just ahead of the 10-hour run of the MOTUL Petit Le Mans. With only one event completed in the 2024 season, the Porsche team of American Dane Cameron, Australian Matt Campbell, American Josef Newgarden and Brazilian Felipe Nasr are leading the standings after earning 380 points in Daytona. The Cadillac team of Tom Blomqvist, Jack Aitken and Pipo Derani are currently in second place with 355 points, so the team could very well take the lead after Saturday's event.
Tune in Saturday to see some of the best drivers take to the course with the hopes of moving up in the standings.
Regional restrictions may apply.
